EPPING, NH- The Outlaw Late Models return
to the Star Speedway in Epping this Saturday night
following a week off, while the Tour-Type Modifieds run
their second event of the 2012 season with great
promise.
On opening night the Allen's Coffee
Brandy Outlaws brought a full field of fendered
competition to race fans at the quarter-mile oval. It
was a memorable event that had some of the best
competition that you can find from a non-touring
division anywhere in New England. Jimmy Renfrew of
Hooksett, N.H., took the opening night win.
This second event of the young season is
expected to bring a minimum of 25 cars, competing in a
full program of three heats and a feature event. Ron
Bolduc figures to be a factor, as the Plaistow, N.H.,
driver returns to Star in an Allens Coffee Brandy
Outlaw.
The EKeys 4 Cars Modifieds opened their
season last week with some of the competing race teams
watching the races instead. That will not be the case on
Saturday. Mike Douglas Jr., returns with a rebuilt motor
that gives the second generation driver promise of a
successful season.
Russ Wood Sr., was at the track taking
notes, studying the setups on the Modifieds. He is on a
learning curve that has him very excited to debut a
recently bought car for his son Russ Jr., to drive. Mike
Murphy, George Sherman and 2011 Rookie of the Year Gary
Grubisa are also planning to make their season debuts on
Saturday.
Wood has asked prominent ISMA car builder
and crew chief Brian Allegresso for assistance in
helping him prepare his sons car, so it could be just a
matter of time before Russ Wood Jr., finds success after
moving up from the NEMA Lights class to an EKeys
Modified.
The Woody's Auto Strickly Stocks brought
numerous three-wide battles for position during last
week's event, won by Connor McDougal, and this week
should be just as competitive. The Kimball Auto Body
Roadrunners are part of a growing car count scenario
that is playing out this season across the Star pit area
as Shaun Waites Jr., showed the way last weekend for his
first feature win of 2012.
The race action begins on Saturday at
6:00 PM with qualifying events before the big feature
events. The pit area will fill to capacity, beginning at
3:00 PM, with practice starting at 4:00 PM. For more
