Epping, NH - Another exciting night of racing action
went into the record books at Star Speedway on Saturday
night, with second-generation Massachusetts racer
Richard Savary earning his second feature event win of
the 2012 season in the E Keys 4 Cars Modified 40-lapper.
Kevin Iannarelli battled hard with Mike Douglas, Jr. to
earn the early lead, and he set the pace for several
laps before finally yielding to Savary, who led the
balance of the event to collect the win. Garrison
Grubisa scored his best finish of the year in his
family-owned machine, with points leader Jacob Dore
coming home in third.
Iannarelli settled for a fourth place finish at the
checkers, followed by Steven Dickey, Jr., Todd Annarummo,
defending champ Josh Cantara, Frank L’Etoile, George
Sherman, and Karl Fredrickson in the fifth through tenth
spots.
Former champion Steve Douphinette put in a dominating
performance to score the win in the Woody’s Auto
Strictly Stock feature, taking over the top spot when
early leader Matt Kawejsza spun out of contention, and
going to distance to collect the victory by a
comfortable margin.
Douphinette left the pack behind to battle for second,
while he cruised uncontested to the winner’s circle.
Bret Culleton made a late-race pass to finish runner-up,
with Chris Augevich, John Cashman, Chris Kingsley, Matt
Kawejsza, Sammy Peabody, Slika Ennis, Chris Jacobson,
and Bobby Bouchard closing out the top ten.
The
hotly-contested Kimball Auto Body Roadrunner feature
wasn’t decided until the final few laps, with Jack
Victoria once again making his way to victory lane when
the dust settled. Billy Osborne, Doug Dawkins, Jarrod
Soucy, and Lance Barthelemy completed the top five.
George Helliwell won out after a spirited late-race
battle with Rob Bryant to take down the Classic Lites
win, followed by Eddie Gilman, Billy Osborne, Duane
Skofield, Tom Harton, Chris Sullivan, Paul Colson, Dan
Poliquin, and Eric Skofield. Tommy Stilphen picked up
the Star 4-cylinder Mod checkers. |
