EPPING, NH- It has been nearly five years, but this
Saturday night the winged NEMA Midgets will make their
return to Star Speedway in Epping, New Hampshire,
headlining an exciting night of auto racing at the
quarter-mile oval which has brought race fans a number
of memorable races already this season.
With their most recently scheduled event being postponed
by rain, a large field of the cars that always bring the
combination of speed and three-wide racing to Star, are
expected. John Zych Jr., from Louisville, Kentucky
currently lads the NEMA standings, over Randy Cabral and
Greg Stoehr.
Star has hosted more NEMA events than any other track.
Drew Fornoro is the all-time winningest NEMA driver at
Star with 23 victories. Current ISMA standout Ben Seitz
was the most recent NEMA winner at Star in 2007. That
race was run in memory of Marilyn Angelillo, the NEMA
secretary and publicist, who passed away days before
that September 2007 Classic event.
Doubling up the winged race action at Star on Saturday
will be the NEMA Lites, bringing a second feature race
of winged cars that will get around Star nearly as fast
as their parent division.
The Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy Outlaw Late Models
are back at Star on Saturday as well, one week after
their special 50-lap event that could rank as one of the
best special event races in all of New England this
season. Jimmy Renfrew, Ron Bolduc and Joe Squeglia Jr.,
all looked like race winners, but it was Gary Beauregard
taking home the first place trophy after the highly
competitive event.
The Kimball Auto Body Roadrunners and Woody's Strickly
Stocks round out Saturday's program. Admission for this
special event remains at just $12 for adults. There is
no admission increase for the grandstand or pit
admissions, so come on out and support the "Track of
Champions" and find out who will be the next stars to
visit victory lane at the Star Speedway on Saturday
night. |
