Epping, NH – The
extra-distance, extra-payoff John DiBurro Memorial race
attracted a strong field of Outlaw Sportsman entries to
Star Speedway on Saturday night, but the race was halted
by a mid-race incident which saw some 17 cars pile up in
one of the most prolific wrecks in the history of the
The extended cleanup
period caused track officials to suspend the completion
of the event until the end of the night, and when the
smoke cleared, it was Rob MacRae collecting his second
win of the season, and biggest of his career, when the
checkered flag finally waved.
Veteran Mitch Wendell of
nearby Derry survived all the mayhem to collect
runner-up honors, with Shaun Waites, Jr., Keith “Slika”
Ennis, Joe Dehney, Steve “Pinball” Wilmot, Matt
Robinson, Matt Kawejsza, Jimmy Ryder, and Ron Bolduc
rounding out the top ten.
Jonathan McKennedy once
again proved to be the class of the field in the E Keys
4 Cars Modified feature event, besting a 15-car field to
take down the win. Four-time winner Richard Savary
collected second place honors, with Jacob Dore rounding
out the podium with a strong third place finish.
Todd Annarummo wound up
in the fourth spot, with veteran Eric Hudson in the
Newmarket Sand and Gravel machine, Steve Dickey, Jr. in
the Wilcox Racing entry, George Baldwin, Gary Grubisa,
Josh Cantara, and Jeff Amaral next across the stripe.
In the Rookie Stocks,
Steve Dickey, Jr. rolled into victory lane once again in
the John Swan-owned Brimstone Racing/Danger Designs
machine. Two-time winner Bill Fiske collected second
place honors, with John Cashman, Dean Wendell, and Chris
Augevich the rest of the top five.
Ricky Porter put in a
strong run to collect his second feature win of the
season in the Roadrunner main event, with Jack Victoria,
Myles Devits, George Maroun, Anthony Nadeau, Robert
Fields and Steve Nichols, and Loren Smith, Jr. next in
the finishing order.
Next up at Star Speedway
is the traditional running of the Star Classic for ISMA
Supermodifieds on Saturday, September 10. The E Keys 4
Cars Modifieds, Outlaw Sportsmen, Rookie Stocks and
Roadrunners will all be in action as well.
