Epping, NH - It was championship
night for the EKeys 4 Cars
Modifieds at Star Speedway
Saturday, and after a second
place finish in the 50-lap
season finale, Sanford, ME’s
Jacob Dore laid claim to the
2012 title, his first in the
headline division at the
quarter-mile oval.
2011 champ Josh Cantara out
dueled Dore to score the final
main event win of the campaign,
with Richard Savary finishing
third ahead of a hard-charging
Vinnie Annarummo.
Second-generation Star racer
Sumner Scott had his best result
of the year and rounded out the
top five.
Gary Grubisa took home a sixth
place finish, followed by
Brandee Tree, veteran Rusty
Ball, Russ Wood, Jr., whose
father won a record-setting
seventh Star Classic just a week
earlier, Bryon Baker, George
Sherman, Dave Bitondo, Jodi
Johnson, Jason Ferreira, Mike
Perry, Mike Douglas, Jr., Karl
Fredrickson, Leo Oliveira, Mike
Conrad, and Frank L‘Etoile.
The Allen’s Coffee Brandy Outlaw
Late Models went at it early and
often in their rough and tumble
35-lap feature event, but once
the yellow fever subsided,
Hooksett racer Jimmy Renfrew ran
away in the late laps to pick up
his fourth win of the year in
his David Joyce-built machine.
Billy Ryder had his best run of
the year to finish in the
runner-up slot, with Joe
Squeglia, Jr. moving up in the
late going to score third.
Early-race leader Jimmy Ryder
was scored fourth, with Jay
Sands, Shaun Waites, Steve
Wilmot, Barry Raymond, Jr., Joey
Ventrillo, and Rob MacRae
finishing up the top ten.
Mike Williams claimed his first
win of the year in the Woody’s
Auto Strictly Stocks, holding
off a tough challenge from Chuck
Dehney to collect the victory.
Dehney had moved alongside to
challenge at mid-race, but
lapped traffic cost him a shot
at the lead and he eventually
settled for second at the
checkers.
Bret Culleton was mixing it up
with the leaders in the late
going, but he couldn’t stay with
the leaders and was scored third
across the stripe, followed by
Chris Augevich, Bobby Bouchard,
Matt Kawejsza, John Cashman,
Chris Kingsley, Steve
Douphinette, and Dylan Bilodeau.
Seth Stickney grabbed his second
win of the 2012 season in the
Kimball Auto Body Roadrunners,
holding off a late-race
challenge from Jarrod Soucy to
collect top honors. George
Maroun finished third, with
veterans Dana Sullivan and Ken
McIlvaine the rest of the top
five.
T.J. Bleau grabbed the Star 4
Modified win over Joey Lovejoy,
Tommy Stilphen, Jordan Dube, and
Brian Bleau, while George
Helliwell continued his
incredible win streak in the
Northeast Classic Lites, picking
up his ninth consecutive victory
in a nail-biter.
A flat rear tire sent Helliwell
spinning to the infield and
limping to the pits with less
than ten laps to go in the
25-lap main event, but some
perfectly-timed cautions and an
even more perfectly driven race
brought Helliwell back to
victory lane for the ninth
straight time. |
